Excitement as Sanwo-Olu unveils biggest housing unit at Sangotedo

There was excitement and fanfare, on Tuesday, as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State unveiled the biggest housing units by the government, a 774 units, at Sangotedo area of the state.

The inaugurated housing units were the biggest constructed by the government, and was also the Phase 1,  while the Phase 2 of the project is undergoing construction.

Tagged ‘LagosHOMS’, it comprises 248 One-bedroom, ( a room self-contained), 248  2-bedroom and 248 3-bedroom homes.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the housing estate would help reduce the housing deficit in the state.

“This addresses our ultimate goal in housing development. We don’t only build houses, we create homes in livable communities.

“This is our own answer to the need to build bridges and promote the emergence of new communities that are resilient and responsive to both communal and individual yearnings of their members,” he said.

He added the housing scheme is available to all Lagosians.

To tackle the issue of land grabbing, the governor said his administration is going ahead with full excision on all untitled lands with the setting up of a technical committee which will  smoothen  the implementation  of  the excision process. It will also speed up the processing of Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O).

Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai,  said the state government had delivered 14 housing schemes in  the past 26 months in fulfillment of the Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

When completed, the Phase 2 of the Sangotedo Scheme would comprise 444 additional  homes.
