There is excitement following the announcement of the commencement of oil production at the Port Harcourt refinery as announced by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.
According to the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the company, Femi Soneye, while breaking the news on Tuesday, the refinery will first operate at 60 percent capacity processing 60,000bpd.
On his X page, Femi Soneye (@FM_Soneye), trucks have started loading oil on Tuesday morning.
Expressing his excitement at the development, Soneye described it ‘as a monumental achievement for Nigeria.
“Today marks a monumental achievement for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially commences crude oil processing. This groundbreaking milestone signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for our nation.
“Hearty congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and the exceptional leadership of GCEO Mele Kyari for their unwavering commitment to this transformative project. Together, we are reshaping Nigeria’s energy future!”he wrote.
He added that efforts are ongoing to ensure that Warri refinery also begins production.
