Former militants, under the aegis of 21st Century Youths of the Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience (21st CYNDAC), have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is successfully completed.
In a statement issued, on Sunday, by 21st CYNDAC’s coordinator, ‘General’ Izon Ebi, the group warned politicians against undermining the relative peace in the oil-rich region, adding that Sen. Godswill Akpabio’s appointment as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs had led to the exposure of the “numerous atrocities” committed by leaders and elders of the area.
It congratulated the eighth president of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Peter Igbifa, and his team on their victory at the poll in Oporoza, Delta State.

The former Niger Delta agitators also urged the new leadership to reposition the organisation for better service delivery and monitoring of critical agencies in order for the people to get a feel of democracy dividends.
The release read in part, “We also use this medium to congratulate High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) on his victory at the court.
“We equally applaud the sterling conduct of Ijaw youths during their convention and election, which ushered in the new executives of IYC worldwide.
“The congress further buttressed the fact that free and fair elections could be conducted where there is will and commitment for excellence.
“We therefore recommend that the IYC, under the leadership of Peter Timothy Igbifa, should as a matter of urgency, swing into action and restore peace in Andoni.
“We also use this medium to urge the IYC to close ranks and marshal out a clear cut agenda that would usher in peace and prosperity not only in Andoni, but all Ijaw land.”
