A former Acting governor of Bayelsa State, Rt.Hon Nestor Binabo, has passed on.
He translated to the great beyond after a protracted illness, on Thursday morning.
Hon. Binabo acted as governor of the state for one month, between January 27 and February 14, 2012, after Chief Timipre Sylva was removed from office. He handed over the reigns of power to Henry Seriake Dickson who was sworn- as governor on the 14th of February 2012 .

The former acting governor was the member representing Sagbama Constituency 3 in the state’s House of Assembly before he attained the position of Deputy Speaker and later became the Speaker of the Assembly and became the acting governor of the state.
He was also a one-time Commissioner for Youth and Conflict Resolution in the state.
Several top politicians had been paying condolence visits to the family house at Azikoro community, a suburb of Yenagoa metropolis.
In a condolence message from Governor Douye Diri, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the governor described Binabo a ‘grassroots politician’, who would be greatly missed in the politics of the state.

Governor Diri also added that the late politician contributed his quota to the development of the state and left at God’s ordained time, having battled to stay alive.
The governor urged his immediate and political families to accept his demise as the will of God and be consoled by his great impact in the politics and development of the state, also prayed God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Governor Diri said, “It is sad that the state has lost a former acting governor, foremost legislator and formidable grassroots politician.
“No one can question God why it happened. Everyone has an appointed time.
“I urge his family to be comforted by his exemplary role in politics and his impact in the development of Bayelsa. The state will greatly miss him.”
