Some Enugu State residents have commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s employment scheme in line with his administration’s four-point agenda.
The residents spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Wednesday, following the governor’s inauguration for second term.
They noted that the employment scheme was a demonstration of the governor’s promises and commitment to job creation.
The residents said that the job-creation initiative was the first of its kind in the state, saying that many unemployed youths had been engaged in one scheme or the other for their livelihood.

Nnamani said that it gladdened his heart that the employment scheme and other policies of the governor were people-centred.
“I am happy and satisfied with the innovative style of leadership of Governor Ugwuanyi because his leadership and programmes touched the lives of every common man in the state.
“The number of qualified teachers in both primary and secondary schools; another 1,000 youths employed to keep Enugu clean; over 150 residents employed to control traffic at various points, are really great.
“Since he took over the affairs of the state, Enugu State had been rated as one of the cleanest and healthiest state and a state with more employed youths.
“Gov. Ugwuanyi’s initiative has drastically reduced crime in Enugu state as a whole,” he said.

“As a teacher, I really appreciate our governor, Chief Ugwuanyi, who engaged most of us with credible jobs for our livelihood.
“To many, it is a stepping stone to greater jobs as getting a job is not easy in the country. For this reason, I thank the governor for keeping to his promise,’’ Agu said.
A cleaner, Miss Uju Ekwo, who has also been engaged in cleaning the city, said that before now, she was jobless.
Ekwo said that the employment scheme by Governor Ugwuanyi revived her life as she could now boast of eating three times daily.
According to her, it will be a better idea for other state governors to emulate Ugwuanyi’s initiative on job creation to engage many youths in something meaningful to better their lives.
Mr. Mike Egwu, a businessman, commended the governor for the engagement of the traffic enforcement officials.
Egwu said that since the engagement of the officials in Enugu, there has been a decent and effective management of traffic rules and regulations in the state. (NAN)
