Police on Thursday fired gunshots into the air to deter protesters from blocking the popular Top Medical junction in Tunga area of Minna, Niger State capital.
The protesters had earlier been dispersed by the police, who fired teargas but they regrouped and tried to mount a roadblock on the ever bustlin road.
This led the policemen to fire gunshots into the air to scare the protesters away, paving the way for the security operatives to remove the stones the protesters had used to barricade a section of the road.
Operatives of the police in collaboration with sister security agencies, including the military, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were deployed to flashpoints in the city, including the Popular Kpakungu Roundabout on Minna-Bida road.
