Life is gradually returning to Ojota and its environs as the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protesters failed to show up on Tuesday.
For five days since August 1, the protesters had besieged the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park venue of the Lagos protests, even defying President Bola Tinubu’s directive in his Sunday national broadcast by assembling at the Park yesterday.
However, the situation changed on Tuesday being the sixth day of protests against hunger and hardship, when no protester showed up probably due to fear of a strong presence of security personnel in the area.
The organisers of the protests had vowed to continue their action because of their disappointment with President Tinubu’s broadcast, which failed to address their grievances.
Tinubu had urged the protesters to call off the protests and offered to dialogue with their leaders instead.
The protesters claimed that getting the president to address Nigerians even though it took him three days before he decided to do that was a victory for them but vowed to continue the protests until their demands were met.
