A Court of Appeal in Abuja has confirmed Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano.
The appeal court ruling came on the heel of tussle and egal battle between Sanusi and Aminu Ado Bayero over the stool of Emir of Kano
Jubilation erupted in Kano when the news of the court ruling flared into town as supporters of Sanusi stormed roads singing victory songs.
Kano have been thrown into chaos and instability since Governor Abba Yusuf dissolved the Emirates in May 2024 and dethroned Aminu Ado Bayero as the Emir and reinstated Sanusi as the 16th Emir of Kano.
At the time of his removal, Bayero was out of town allowing Sanusi to quickly move into the Kofar-Kudu palace to reclaim the throne.
However, on returning to the state, Bayero made attempts to forcefully take over the palace resulting in chaos and detachment of security agencies to the palace.
