Emir urges parents to enrol wards, children in schools

Alhaji Kabir gave the advice in Katsina on Tuesday while exchanging views with newsmen.

“The parents have a responsibility to enrol their wards in both Western and Islamic schools to obtain sound education.

“The Katsina Emirate Council has given the district and village heads the directive to make sure all  children of school age be enrolled in schools.

“Parents should be encouraged to enrol their children in public schools,” he said.

He said that the time had come that both male and female children should be given equal opportunities to acquire education for a prosperous future.

The emir called on parents to also encourage their children to attend skills’  acquisition training to make them become self employed.

Kabir said that children at their tender ages should learn the trades that would make them become  self-reliant  at their adulthood.

He said that children should  also be encouraged to hold on to their families’ traditional businesses like blacksmith, tie and dye of fabrics and tannery.
