One of the candidates of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the February general elections, Mr Ahmed Oseni, on Tuesday appealed to intending voters to shun vote-buying then.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos State that vote-buying by politicians usually mortgaged the future of the electorate.
NAN reports that Oseni would be contesting the election to represent the Oshodi/Isolo Constituents 11, in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Oseni said that the electorate would not be able to demand their legitimate dividends of democracy from politicians after they would have assumed public offices.

He said that the politicians would assume they had settled the electorate with the peanuts they paid them through vote-buying before and during elections.
He, therefore, called on the electorates to eliminate and stand against vote-buying which he described as a serious political offence.
He advised the electorate to ensure they protected their votes on the days of elections by monitoring them from the polling units to the collation centres.
The candidate also said that he would promote and lobby other legislators to promote bills that would be beneficial to his constituency and the state in general if elected.
Oseni said he would focus on bills relating to education, health and the environment.
He said that he would also promote bills that would improve the lives of the widows and the aged.
He added that he would ensure that the state government initiates a policy that would take care of them. (NAN)
