A son of the immediate-past Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, Bashir, has accused Governor Uba Sani of incompetence and poor performance.
Bashir was reacting to comments made earlier by Governor Sani regarding the past administration.
Recall that addressing a town hall meeting, in Kaduna, on Saturday, Governor Sani had said he inherited a huge debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion and 115 contractual liabilities from the el-Rufai administration.
He said the huge debt burden was eating deep into the state’s federal allocation.

The governor explained that N7 billion out of the N10 billion federal allocation for the state in March was deducted to service the state’s debt.
He further lamented that the state was left with N3 billion, an amount he said was not enough to pay salaries, as the state’s monthly salary bill stands at N5.2 billion.
“Despite the huge debt burden of 587 million dollars, N85 billion, and 115 Contractual Liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, we remain resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development. We have conducted a thorough assessment of our situation and are sharpening our focus accordingly,” Governor Sani had said.
But in a series of posts via X, Bashir el-Rufai accused Governor Sani of surrounding himself with “incompetent aides appointed for political patronage.”
Bashir said instead of admitting its incompetence, the current administration resorted to deflecting by raising alarm on a debt burden inherited from the el-Rufai administration.

The former governor’s son further questioned Governor Sani’s wisdom in “building a banquet hall for N7 billion” while, in the same breath “lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.”
He wrote, “These guys have realised that they are wholly incompetent and the only way to mask the nonsense is to deflect. From a Governor that is always sleeping in Abuja to a litany of incompetent aides that were only rewarded for foolish political reasons.
“FYI: He was the senator from Kaduna who lobbied & approved the loans.
“One would think that from all the FAAC allocations these unserious clowns have changed to dollars, debt would be the least of their problems.
“The current administration in Kaduna is building a banquet hall for 7BN naira and is lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.”
Bashir’s tweets have elicited different reactions. While supporters of the governors are hitting back at him, el-Rufai’s supporters have descended on the governor.
