Ekiti State governor, Biiodun Oyebanji on Sunday hailed Lagos State governor, Babajide for the construction of overpass bridges at Yaba and Ojyingbo axis.
Oyebanji was in Lagos on the invitation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to open the Oyingbo overpass bridge at the RedLine rail crossing.
Governor Sanwo-Olu had, on thursday opened the Yaba overpass bridge for vehicular movement.
Oyebanji described Sanwo-Olu as a ‘ governor with a vision of building on the programmes of his predecessors.”
He said that his state, Ekiti State, has also been having administrations that have been following the footsteps of their predecessors including the immediate former Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Oyebanji noted that Sanwo-Olu’s achievements across the state were visible, adding Sanwo-Olu is a mentor.to other governors.
He disclosed that commissioners from Ekiti State had been coming to Lagos State for peer review in order to replicate developmental projects in the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu,in his speech, said that the bridge was second of the four that the state government had “constructed to ensure safety of lives and uninterrupted flow of vehicular traffic at level crossings along the Red Line.”
The governor pointed out that his administration was investing so much in the provision of transport infrastructure that would support commerce and enhance ease of movement, given the importance of Oyingbo as a major link between the mainland and the Island.
He said part of the infrastructure is the Yaba Bus Terminal, which unfortunately, was torched by arsonists alongside over 50 new high-capacity buses during the EndSARS protest.
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who was among the dignitaries that attended the ceremony noted that with the overpass bridges, the state government was providing a permanent solution to the avoidable fatal accidents often recorded at railway crossings.
