EFCC under pressure to probe Tinubu’s Minister over N70b fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) appears to be under pressure to reopen the N70 billion contract case against the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

About two weeks ago, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akida Forum, had stormed the headquarters of the anti-graft agency and demanded immediate prosecution of the former Zamfara State governor.

This time, the Tinubu Youth and Women Network, led by Aliyu Yususa, besieged the premises of the Commission, yesterday, in Abuja, and made the same request.

Yususa said: “The Tinubu Youth and Women Network is appealing to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to continue investigating Bello Mohammed Matawalle’s alleged mismanagement of public funds during his tenure as governor of Zamfara State, and his involvement in the famous arms deal scandal.

“As party loyalists, we want the EFCC to investigate the matter and bring justice to those responsible for the mismanagement of public funds. This will serve as a deterrent to others, considering engaging in corrupt practices in public office, especially considering what happened to the humanitarian minister.

“The Tinubu Youth and Women Network is a political pressure group that fully supports the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We aim to assist the government in rooting out corrupt individuals from the system by holding them accountable.”
