The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has released its impressive achievements since Ola Olukoyede became the chairman a year ago.
Olukoyede succeeded Abdulrasheed Bawa and was confirmed as the EFCC boss in July last year.
Wilson Uwujaren, the Director of Public Affairs, disclosed at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, that anti-graft agency secured 3,455 convictions and recovered over N248 billion in proceeds of crimes in the last one year.
Uwaujaren said: “In the past one year, the EFCC under Olukoyede’s watch secured 3455 convictions across all categories of financial crimes and corruption.”
He said the financial recoveries, included $105.4 million, £53,133, and several other foreign currencies.
The agency also returned 53 stolen vehicles to Canadian authorities and seized multiple properties during the period.
Some of the high-profile cases involved some former high-profile officials, including four former governors.
One of such involved former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, who faces two sets of charges in different courts.
Others involved former governors of Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara, and ex-Anambra Willie Obiano.
Uwaujaren also said there were other cases he did not want to reveal the details.
