EFCC nabs 47 internet fraudsters in 3 states

No less that forty-one suspected Internet fraudsters have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in Osun, Ogun and Plateau states.

It was gathered that 10 of the suspects were arrested in Ilesha, Osun State, 29 were apprehended in various locations in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, while six were nabbed in Jos, Plateau State.

Those arrested in Ilesha are Oyesoji Tosin, Olaniyi Emmanuel, Samson Ojo, Sodiq Sunkanmi, Kolawole Abiodun, Oluwole Gbenga, Olajuyigbe Olamide, Oyebanji Olabisi Temitope, Ayoola Oluwafemi and Oluwatobiloba Gbadamosi.

The suspects arrested in Ago-Iwoye include Emmanuel Lawal, Kareem Olamide, Adekunle Kehinde Salawu, Bella Tijesu, Aderibigbe Adedoyin, Anifowose Hammed, Lateef Adetayo, Busari Oluwatobi, Tobi Adeyemi, Gabriel Obisesan, Oluwole Olasunkanmi and Odetola Samson.

Others area Farouq Dosu, Ayilara Akindeji, Ademola Adedare, Ishola Adeleke, Alex Olasunmade, Idowu Abolaji, Okegbenro Idris, Akinlolu Akintunde, Oshoboke Shashaeniyan, Adeyemi Opeyemi, Oluwatoyin Olutekunbi, Albert Charles, Olawuyi Olanrewaju, Tunde Adekoya, Gbolahan Olalekan, Alade Oluwasegun and Ajanaku Qudus.

It was gathered that seven cars, laptops, mobile phones and several documents containing false pretences were recovered from the suspects.

According to the EFCC, the suspects were arrested after a series of surveillance based on intelligence on their activities.

The Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said in a statement that the suspects were arrested after surveillance based on intelligence on their alleged criminal activities, adding that they would be charged as soon as investigations were concluded.

Similarly, the tactical operations unit of the Abuja zonal office of the anti-graft agency arrested six suspects from their hideouts in Jos.

The suspects, who are between the ages of 23 and 33, were said to be involved in romance scam and other related Internet fraud.

The suspects are Paul Obide, aka Don P; Chinaza Obide, Obadare Obayemi, Emmanuel Adetunji, Ndubuisi Ozomba and Samuel Chukwuebuka.

According to Uwujaren, items recovered from the suspects are Lexus RX350 with number plate RSH 581 ML, Honda Accord with number plate JJN 35 AA, six laptops, MiFi modems, flash drives, card readers and exotic mobile phones.

Uwujaren noted that the suspects had made useful statements and would be charged.
