The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suffered heavyweight losses in the gubernatorial election on Saturday as the state governor Godwin Obaseki, his Deputy, Godwins Omobayo, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku all lost their various local governments to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
The APC polled 30,780 votes in Oredo, Obaseki’s local government, to defeat the PDP, which scored 24,938 votes.
Similarly, Godwins Omobayo, the Deputy Governor of the state, lost his local government, Akoko-Edo, to the APC.
The PDP garnered 15,865 votes while the APC got 34,847 votes.
The APC also defeated the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, scoring 12, 277 votes as against the PDP’s 11,284 votes.
So far, the APC has won in 11 while the PDP won six out of the 17 local government areas declared.
