Mr. Julius Abure, National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) has described the 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo State as a turning point.
The chairman stated this when Mr. Stephen Osemwegie, a governorship aspirant of the party, paid an official visit to the party’s Secretariat in Abuja, adding that the party had strategically positioned itself to win next year’s governorship election.
Abure said the party would field a competent candidate and promised a level-playing ground during the primaries, which he said would be free, fair and credible.

According to him, the Labour Party would support any aspirant with capacity to boost the fortunes of Edo people.
He said: “There is no gainsaying the fact that our country is in dire need of competent and quality leaders with capacity and vision and leaders who have what it takes for effective performance.
“Today, I am happy that along this line, we are raising leaders and followers who have bought into that vision to reclaim the country and specifically Edo State.
“The 2024 gubernatorial elections in Edo is going to be a turning point in the history of Edo state.
“We have strategically positioned ourselves to be the party that will take over leadership of Edo state.”
While appreciating the Party leadership for providing an enabling environment for all the aspirants.”
Osemwegie promised to make proper use of the human resources in the state, by creating employment opportunities for the people.
