Edo Assembly to serve dep. gov. Shaibu Impeachment Notice via Newspapers

The Edo State House of Assembly has said that it would use substituted service to serve the state’s Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu, an Impeachment Notice.

 

 

 

 

Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku said this, on Monday, after accusing the deputy governor of refusing to acknowledge the impeachment notice sent earlier to him through DHL Courier Service.

 

 

 

 

Recall that the Assembly had, on March 6, commenced an impeachment proceedings against the Mr. Shaibu and asked the Assembly Clerk, Yahaya Omogbai, to serve the deputy governor with the notice.

Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, revealed that 21 of the 24 members of the aAssembly had signed the petition against Mr. Shaibu.

 

 

 

During Monday’s plenary session, the Speaker of the House, expressed frustration over Shaibu’s refusal to acknowledge the impeachment notice sent via personal service and announced that the notice would be published in The Observer and other national dailies to ensure Shaibu’s awareness.

 

 

 

The Assembly’s decision to serve Shaibu via newspapers marked a significant development in the political turmoil gripping Edo State.
