Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, has called on designated delegates to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) June19 primaries, in Edo State, to carefully elect the best candidate that will ultimately win the governorship election come September, this year.
Governor Fintiri, who headed a three-man committee that conducted the election of 192 ward delegates in the state, ahead of the party primary, said Edo remain a PDP state.
Other members of the committee were: Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, represented by his deputy, and PDP’s vice national chairman, South South, Sen. Sam Emman Anyanwu.
Governor Fintiri, who spoke with newsmen during the collation of results from the 18 local government Returning Officers in Benin-City, described the entire process as successful.

Said he, “For us we will say to a greater extent the assignment was sucessful and we have concluded it successfully.”
On his observed level of preparation by the party in the state to face the gubernatorial election, he said that, “They are well prepared without missing words. “Technically Edo is PDP state because on the previous elections you can see our performance, we did very well.
“In the last presidential election here in Edo we won two senatorial seats, four House of Representatives.”
On litigations that heralded the party’s state congress conducted few months back, Governor Fintiri said, “This is another election that has no bearing with the congress election and has no basis to be compare with state congress that took place.
“This is an election met to nominate or elect delegates from each of the wards. Our assignment has nothing to do with the ward, local government structure in Edo State.”
