Sule Lamido, the former Jigawa State Governor under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has lambasted former President Muhammadu Buhari and the incumbent, Bola Tinubu for lying to Nigerians over the state of the nation’s economy.
The PDP chieftain said Buhari used propaganda to make Nigerians believed the economy was doing well during his tenure adding that President Tinubu is using the same method by not being transparent with Nigerians about the true state of the nation under his administration.
Lamido spoke on the BBC Hausa program Gane Mini Hanya. He compared the APC government with the PDP’s, noting that the PDP was open and transparent to Nigerians when the party was in power
“Buhari’s and Tinubu’s governments are not being transparent with Nigerians unlike during the time when PDP was in power where everything was transparent and open to all Nigerians. With the coming of Buhari, deception and propaganda became tools for running the government,” he said
He also since President Tinubu came to power, he has made more loan requests than necessary and questioned the rationale behind it.
Lamido further said claims by the president that the country is generating more money does not tally with his incessant demands for loan.
He bashed the present administration for being reckless in spending and ‘selfish’ adding that the government lacks financial management.
“If Nigerians are being told the truth then there is nothing wrong with that, but how would you budget N30tn, generate N50tn and then request a loan when you have a surplus of N20tn?” he queried.
“This recklessness and clear-cut selfishness is not done anywhere in the world, but yet you find (some) Nigerians supporting it. Visit social media and see how APC is being criticised, being referred to as calamity, yet you find some protecting it,” he said
