371 Lagosians have requested the state government to assist them in relocating to their different states, citing economic hardship they are facing in Lagos.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

According to him, the government has embarked on a statewide exercise to free Lagos of security risks following the discovery and arrest of some suspects under the Dolphin Estate bridge.

The statement stated that the ‘ceaseless influx of miscreants, beggars, and the destitute onto Lagos streets has raised fears of insecurity of lives and property.’

He noted that the exercise has resulted in the rescuing of 450 miscreants at the weekend out of which ‘371 pleaded for assistance to relocate to their various states due to the hardship they are facing in Lagos, while 79 have been absorbed into some government facilities for rehabilitation after showing signs of being unwell.’

He assured the exercise will continue as part of the government’s responsibility to keep ‘our citizens safe and secure.’
