Barely four days to the Local Government Council chairmanship and Ward Councilorship elections, in Ebonyi State, the state’s APC chairman, Mr. Stanley Okoro Emegha, has handed over the Party’s flags to 13 successful candidate for the LG Chairmanship and 171 Ward, Councilors to enable them continue the process of campaign and election on 30th July 2022 across the state.
Briefing journalists in the event, Mr. Emegha, said that the party has officially handed over flag to the candidates to contest in the field where the masses should decide who they want to be their leader with their permanent voter’s card.

He stated that APC as a Party was expecting total victory but should also accept loss if any with the sport of sportsmanship.
In the words of Mr. Emegha, “We are here to hand over flag to successful candidate of our party so that they can continue with the other process
“It is now the turn of the masses to decide in the field who they want to be their chairmen and ward councilors. As far as local government elections is concerned we have produced the best candidate as a Party.
“It doesn’t mean that we must win in all the poll, if anything negative to us happens in the field we accept with the spirit of sportsmanship as a party.
“We have charged them to carry out their campaign and come out for the contest on the election day, we believe they will not led the party down.”
The Nigerian Xpress observed that among the thirteen candidates only one woman is in the list of chairmanship contest.
Reacting to the issue of legal tussle between Governor David Umahi and Mrs. Ann Agom Eze on who among them is the right candidate of Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, in which the Federal High Court in Abakaliki ruled against the governor.

The APC chairman said that Justice is in the mind of the judge, whatever the judge says in the court you should obey strictly, adding that APC respect the rule of law.
Mr. Emegha said that the court judgement was that party should conduct rerun of the primary election in Ebonyi South Senatorial zone and “We are prepared as far as it will meet the timeline not INEC, adding that it is an internal issue that should be resolved within the party, Mrs. Ahom Eze is not a PDP member, is something party should handle internally.”
