Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has relieved two of his aides of their appointments for being allegedly involved in a murder case.

The two aides, Uche Ibiam, Coordinator of Ubeyi Development Centre, and Ogbonnaya Ibiam Junior, Technical Adviser to the Governor on Security, are accused of complicity in the violence that marred the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in their ward in Uwana, Afikpo North Local Government Area, on Friday, which resulted in the death of one Enyinnaya Ibiam.

It was gathered that an unnamed coordinator of a Development Centre in the area was responsible for the shot that killed Enyinnaya. He had allegedly fired at his own brother, who belonged to a different faction with Enyinnaya, a staff of Federal Polytecnic, Uwana, who was mistakenly hit and died on the spot.

Enraged by the development, Gov. Umahi in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Kenneth Ugbala, ordered the immediate sack of the suspects as well as directing that security agencies should investigate the matter and prosecute those involved according to the laws of the land.

The statement read: “Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi, has directed the immediate removal from office and arrest of the Coordinator, Ubeyi Development Centre, Uche Ibiam and Mr. Ibiam Ogbonnaya Junior, (a.k.a Terror), Technical Assistant (TA) to Governor on Security, for alleged involvement in a murder case.”
