Easter: Renew your faith in God, unite for national, collective growth -Kwara gov. urges Christians

...As NSCDC deploys 3,300 personnel

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has urged Christians to let the sacrifice of Jesus Christ by his death on the cross guide the flock and the enduring legacy he left for humanity.

 

 

 

 

 

Also, the governor said the lessons of Easter celebrations should call for deeper reflection at this time and always saying, “Easter evokes the time-tested themes of love, sacrifice, compassion, unity, and triumph of good over evil at different times.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The governor, who sent his hearty felicitations to the Christian community in Kwara State and across Nigeria on the occassion of Easter through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaiye urged citizens to seize the moment to renew their faith in God, unite for national and collective growth, and to help one another to uphold goodness and justice in the world.

Meanwhile, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Securiry and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Umar J.G Mohammed has ordered the deployment of 3,300 personnel across various locations in Kwara.

 

 

 

 

 

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ayoola Michael said this was in response to the increased activities expected during this Easter period in order to preempt any potential disruptions of law and order before, during, and after the celebrations.

 

 

 

 

 

Commandant Umar, according to the PRO, the personnel were drawn from various specialized units within the corps, including the Armed Squad, Anti-Vandal Monitoring Unit, Special Female Squad, Intelligence department, Agro Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Unit, all geared towards ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of the law abiding citizens in the state.

Ayoola said his Principal also directed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units of the Command to deploy officers and men to various locations such as recreational facilities, churches, motor parks and shopping complexes to prevent mischief makers from causing any form of mayhem during and after the Easter celebration.

 

 

 

 

 

His words; “he charged them to take resolute and decisive actions against individuals with criminal intentions who are bent on vandalising critical national assets and government infrastructure during the festivities.

 

 

 

 

“In addition, he cautioned commanders and operational managers to ensure that their personnel adhere strictly to the established rules of engagement of the corps and prevent any instances of unprofessional behavior, as they would be held accountable for any shortcomings”.
