The Super Eagles this evening in Maseru put up a “four star” performance, coming from behind to beat Lesotho 4-2 in the Cameroon 2021 Nations Cup qualifier.
The Eagles got jolted early in the game when their hosts went ahead courtesy of striker Masoabi Nkoto’s effort in the 11th minute.
Apparently not ready to be messed up by their less illustrious hosts, the Eagles stepped up their game and leveled up in the 26th minute with Alex Iwobi doing the job.
Samuel Chukwueze scored Eagles second goal in the 36th minute with the first half ending that way.
On resumption of play in the second half, Lesotho tried to fight back only for in form Lille forward, Victor Osimhen to score Eagles third goal in the 75th minute. Osimhen went ahead to get a brace with another goal in the 85th minute.
Lesotho who did not give up succeeded in reducing the tally in the 90th minute when Chidozie Awaziem helped them with an own goal.
In the other match of the group, Republic of Benin defeated Sierra Leone at home by a lone goal. Eagles now top the group with 6 points, while Benin has 3points.
Sierra Leone and Lesotho have one point each courtesy of the draw they played in Free Town on match day one.
