Don’t make students guinea pigs, Oloyede tells ASUU

Wole Adedeji, Ilorin

A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and current Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB),  Prof. Is-haq  Oloyede, has pleaded with the striking university lectures to put the interests of their students above all other interests.

According to him, the  Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and all parties involved in the on-going strike should  consider the interests of the students and work towards the quick resolution of the issues involved saying; ‎ “the students must not be made guinea pigs”.

Prof. Oloyede, made the appeal while speaking with journalists  shortly after his unscheduled visits to some CBT centres in Ilorin to monitor the ongoing UTME registration exercise.

His words, “We can afford to disagree and agree later but we should not allow that to disrupt the system”.

He also lamented the attitudes of parents who assist their wards’ registration for JAMB examinations all because they were not  willing to release their ATM pins to the children.

He urged all stakeholders to pay attention to the numerous publications of the Board  in several national dailies because, according to him, the Board is doing its best to improve the systems.
