Disengaged EFCC operatives beg Buhari for justice

Disengaged personnel of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have cried out to President Muhammadu Buhari for justice, fairness and reinstate them.

According to them, some of the affected operatives worked assiduously and professionally to get the pardoned Governors convicted, as well as other services they rendered to the Commission.

Spokesperson of the affected operatives/staff who spoke on condition of anonymity, on Tuesday, in Kaduna State, said EFCC core staff,  from the days of Ibrahim Lamorde and Ibrahim Magu,  had experienced victimisation and dismissal for not dancing to their tune in engaging in corrupt activities.

He appealed to the President to cause their vast experience and professionalism in the intelligence service to be considered with a view to reinstating them.

He averred that reinstating them to their field of work would surely restore sanity and cohesion in EFCC as it would help in restoring the lost glory of the Commission.

“Following the National Council of State’s resolution in their meeting held on 14th April, 2022, Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who were victimized, persecuted, forced to resign or even dismissed, have called and appealed to President Buhari, Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the EFCC Board Chairman/Members and the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to as a matter of urgent national importance, to do Justice and reinstate them to their job.

“Eventhough, it was a decision taken by the National Council of State which is the highest decision making body in the country, we are appealing for Justice and fairness in their own matter.

“Most of the affected staff were forced to resign or dismissed following series of persecution and victimization by the Ibrahim Lamorde and Ibrahim Magu-led administrations and some senior police officers who were the Heads of Units and Departments before the emergence of the Hon. Justice Ayo Salami Investigative Panel which discovered and unearthed series of core staff victimisation, maltreatment and persecution by the senior Police officers.

“That many of the affected staff are well trained and professionally good in the Investigation and Intelligence circle of the Commission.

“That no matter how little the alleged offences or mistake one committed, in as much as the person is a core staff, they (Police) would ensure they dismissed or forced him to resign,” the source added.
