Dangote Group has received nod from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to construct service lanes connecting the Lekki Deep Sea Port through Epe to the Shagamu-Benin Expressway.

The contract, which was approved yesterday by FEC, would cost about N158 billion.

The project comes under the Federal Government’s Road Infrastructure Development Fund and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.

According to a statement posted on the official X account of Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu on Information, “the council approved the N158 billion contract to construct service lanes for the Lekki Deep Sea Port through Epe to Shagamu-Benin Expressway. Dangote Industries will be awarded the contract under the Federal Government Road Infrastructure Development Fund and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.”

The planned service lanes, will pass through Epe to the Shagamu-Benin Expressway, and is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion within Lagos, particularly with the concentration of industries in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

The project will improve  movement of goods through the Lekki  corridor into the Benin- Shagamu expressway, thus easing pressure on Lagos’ internal road networks and improving connectivity to other regions.

Dangote Industries has been active in the construction sector utilizing mostly cement instead of asphalt to build its road.
