Crippled man suspected to be cultist, arrested with 300 wraps of Indian hemp

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a  physically-challenged man, Ibrahim Aremu, for allegedly being in possession of 300 wraps of powdered substance suspected to be Indian Hemp.

Aremu, who is nicknamed Jenromi,  was arrested, following information received by the Enugada Police Division.

According to a press release from the police, they got information that Aremu, who is the alleged leader of a notorious cult group in Itun Seriki Community, in Totoro Abeokuta, had been unleashing mayhem on residents.

Consequently, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO)  in-charge of the division, promptly mobilised his men and stormed the said hideout of the suspect.

According to the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect’s hideout also served as a meeting point for members of his cult.

Oyeyemi said: “The suspect was arrested, following information received by the police at Enugada Division about his activities, as a leader of cult group, which has been terrorising Itun Seriki community, Totoro, Abeokuta. Information further revealed that the suspect is also a big time dealer in illicit drugs and that his cult group always uses his abode, as their meeting point from where they do plan how to carry out their notorious activities.

“On receiving the information, the DPO, Enugada Division, mobilised his men to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested while some of his accomplices escaped. About 300 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from him.”

The PPRO further stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP  Kenneth Ebrimson, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
