Wife of Lagos State governor, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, charged Nigerian women to be forward thinkers and stop engaging in unproductive activities such as gossiping and backbiting.
Mrs. Sanwo-Olu spoke at the closing ceremony of the 2022 National Women Conference organized by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, COWLSO, with the theme”Spring Forth Stand Out’ held at Eko Hotel and Suites Victoria Island Lagos.
According to her, women must lend their voices to issues of insecurity in the country by providing solutions and not leave it only for men to handle, and charge them to make use of their capabilities.

“We have had top-notch discussion and I am confident our discussion will elevate the status of women to spring forth and stand out. It is time for women to lend their voices out on the issue of insecurity in the country. Our women in Nigeria must be forward thinking. Let us stop gossiping and backbiting. We need our women to be smart investors,” she said.
As the 2023 election drew close, she urged women to “use the power in your hands, come out and vote so we can be forward thinking people.’
The Special Guest of Honour, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, who was represented by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Auwal Abubakar, called for more women participation in governance and urged state governors to give women opportunities to achieve their potential.

He also called for collaboration among men, women and youth to address the issue of barriers, and advocated for establishment of skills acquisition centers to teach women.
Highlights of the three days event was the presentation of awards. Prizes were also won with the star prize a brand new SUV.
Among dignitaries at the event were First Ladies of Osun, Edo and Ondo States as well as former First Lady of Lagos State, Abimbola Fashola.
