Court remands skit maker, Trinity, over alleged sexual exploitation of minor

Popular skit maker, Maruf Abdullahi, aka Trinity, was on Monday ordered remanded in Agodi correctional facility for alleged sexual abuse of a minor.
Family Court sitting at Iyaganku gave the order when He appeared before it over allegations of sexual exploitation of a 10-year-old girl.
Also arraigned with the skit maker for alleged conspiracy were parents of the minor, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife, Rofiat, 29.

Insp. Oluwakemi Arowosaye, had accused the defendants of sexual abuse and exploitation of the girl.

According the police inspector, Trinity on Dececember 17, 2022, sexually abused and exploited the girl at Kuola area of Ibadan.

She alleged that Abdullahi asked the minor the colour of his penis, in a scene he recorded posting on social media, contrary to Section 35 (1) as well as Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The offence is punishable under Section 35 (2) of Oyo State Child Right’s Law, 2006 and attracts up to15 years imprisonment under the Child Right’s Law, 2006, upon conviction.

Mrs. P.O. Adetuyibi, the presiding Magistrate, did not take the defendants’ plea for want of jurisdiction, but disclosed that the case file had been duplicated and filed at the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.

Thereafter, the ordered the remand ifaccused should remanded the three defendants in Agodi correctional facility, Ibadan, pending July 11 when the case would come up for mention.

However, M Oludare Adebayo, the Defence Counsel, argued that the court could hear the matter under Section 41.

Adebayo also said the victim was a product of poverty.

The magistrate said that the case file had been duplicated, but added that not until the ministry of justice accepted to withdraw it that she could hear the matter.
