Real Madrid confirmed Saturday night that there is nothing real about the team this season as they fell 0-1 to Barcelona in the second el Classico in 72 hours at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Barca it would be noted had mid week beaten the Sergio Ramos captained side by 3-1 in the first El Classico, a victory that saw Barcelona establish a nine point lead on top of the La Liga table.
With the Saturday night victory, Barca now with 60 points, have simply put the La Liga title beyond the reach of Real Madrid who are now twelve points adrift.
Real are third on the log with 48 points while second placed Athletico Madrid have garnered 50 points.
Speaking after the second El Classico, Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde said his team can not afford to go to sleep, insisting that there is still a long way to go in the La Liga race.
He was however full of praise for his wards for putting up a good performance. Ivan Rakitic’s first half strike was all Barcelona needed to win the second El Classico.
