The Multi Sports Complex (MSC) of the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu, being constructed by the alumni association of the institution is to gulp a whooping N350m.
This much was disclosed yesterday by a ranking member of the alumni body, Benson Ezeomeogo Ejindu (MVP) in an email sent to The Nigerian Xpress Sports.
The USA based Philanthropist further disclosed that the CIC old boys plan to get the stadium project completed in three years with each member coughing out $1000 every year.
Ejindu’s mail stated in part:”Following the completion of the classroom renovations we shall embark on the Multi Sports Complex (MSC) project which based on rough estimates would cost us about N350m ($1m). Because of this, we intend to do the project in phases over a three year period with the plan of raising N350,000 ($1,000) per person per year for three years.”
Ejindu was quick to add that he is confident that most of the “big boys” in the alumni body would give more than the minimum.
Hear him:”Of course most of our premier donors will give more than the expected minimums.”
It would be noted that CIC alongside Nike Grammar School Enugu dominated school sports in the then Eastern region in 70s and 80s. While CIC was well known in athletics ruling the track and field events, Nike Grammar School held sway in football.
“Our desire is to bring back the glorious days of CIC when students of the college excelled on all fronts,” Ejindu stated.
