Chief of Defence Staff alive, not dead – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters has denied the report in a section of social media that the Chief of Defence Staff (dhq), Gen. Christopher Musa, has died.

Recall that a report by a newspaper had claimed the Defence Chief had passed away.

However, the DHQ in a post on X on Tuesday said the Defence Chief is well and alive.

The DHQ statement signed by Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau said the report about the alleged death of the CDS is totally false and lacks credibility.

Gusau also added that the platform which earlier published the story about the death of General Musa has retracted the story, and apologized to the CDS, his family and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Defence Headquarters has been drawn to an unfortunate publication by an online newspaper alleging that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa passed away yesterday.

Contrary to recent false publication, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, is alive and well.

“Please rely on credible sources for accurate information,” the post partly read.
Gen. Musa was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the Chief of Defence Staff on June 19, 2023.
