Unknown gunmen yesterday shot dead the Community Development Chairman of Choba Community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Lawrence Igwe in his house in the area.
The gunmen also killed one Mr. Orji Azuh, identified as Juju priest while Mr. Iyke Wordu, a native of same community sustained serious gun injury during the attack.
A source in the community who pleaded anonymity, said they woke up to see the dead bodies of the victims after sporadic gun shots that lasted for about three hours.

The source said that Wordu who sustained bullet wound was rushed to a hospital for treatments while the remains of the CDC chairman and Chief Azu who is in charge of carrying Choba deity during traditional worship by the community have been deposited at the morgue on the order of the police.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident.
The Command spokesman DSP, Nnamdi Omoni, said investigation is on to arrest the perpetrators.
He said, “Unknown gunmen attacked and killed the Choba CDC chairman and one other and escaped but investigations are on by the order of the State Commission of Police, to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and brought to book”.
