Car snatching syndicate arrested for attempted murder of Uber driver

The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested suspects specialised in snatching cabs from Uber drivers and allegedly killing their victim.

The suspects had tied, assaulted an Uber driver, Charles Ekwomi, and made away with his Toyota Camry car, believing he was dead.

The suspects names were given as, Daniel Alagor, 28, Samuel Effiong, 25 and Emeka Okoye.

Alagor, and others on the run, had tied Ukwomi with a rope and pummeled him to comma, while Okoye and Effiong had made arrangement to dispose the vehicle before they were apprehended, last Thursday morning.

According to the Police, the suspects had booked a trip with the victim, around 11:00p.m and told him they were going to a birthday party at Shoprite, Sangotedo, but lured him to Abigo GRA, with the ploy that they were going to pick two friends that would join then to the party.

After beating the driver and believing that he was dead, three of the suspects, Alagor, Blessing and another at large, whose identity was yet unknown, drove the car to Shoprite, to pick Effiong, who had made plans with a buyer residing at Fashola Estate, in Lekki.

Effiong disclosed that it was Blessing that called him that he had a car for sale.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, has directed that all the suspects should be taken to SCIID.
