President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the North-East Development Commission (NEDC). The NEDC was inaugurated on Wednesday in Abuja.
This was even as he said that N10 billion take-off grants to the Commission had already captured in the 2019 budget.
The Commission had, last month, presented a budget of N55 billion to the Senate of which N10 billion was approved for humanitarian interventions.
The inauguration took place before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
President Buhari had, in January, sent the nominees’ names to the Senate for confirmation by the senate.
The Senate had, last month, confirmed a Maj.-Gen. Paul Tarfa (rtd) as chairman of the Commission.
The Senate has also confirmed Mohammed Alkali as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission and nine others as members of the Board of the Commission.
