Booing of Gov. Ortom at Wadata market, figment of APC’s imagination – Benue PDP

Aviashima Toom, Makurdi.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Benue State, has disclaimed claim by the All Progressive Congress Party (APC), in the state  that Governor Samuel Ortom was booed by traders at the Wadata market when he went to commiserate with them over the fire that gutted the market few days back.

In a statement issued by the state’s Publicity Secretary and Chairman, Publicity Committee, Benue State PDP  Campaign Organisation, Hon. Bemgba Iortyom, said the allegations was a figment of the twisted imagination of a desperate All Progressives Congress Party (APC) in Benue State.

Bemgba said, ”In order to inform the unsuspected public about the situation is necessary to make it clear that the claim was false and mischievous and reflect the desperation of the APC as an opposition party in the state.

”To put the records straight, Governor Samuel Ortom had, in the morning of that day, visited the Wadata Market which was gutted by fire incident and expressed his and heartfelt sympathies with the affected trades.

”The Governor who was warmly received by an enthusiastic crowed of people chanting support for his re-election bid also donated N30 million towards facilitating the process of recovery from the incident as well as a borehole to be sunk there.

“All these took place under a calm and peaceful atmosphere where leaders of the traders who also spoke appreciated the prompt reaction and kind gesture towards their plight,” he said.

He, however, said it was brought to her attention that elements of the APC who were among the crowd at the visit of the governor went about trying to desperately incite the youths to cause trouble at the market and Benue State.

According to him, the same elements who, having failed in their nefarious bid to foment public disorder, have gone to town with a dubious and mischievous allegation that the Governor was booed on the visit to the grieving Wadata traders.

The secretariat hereby called on the general public in the state to be mindful of the characteristic antics of the APC as a political party.

”Surely, the people of Benue cannot forget soon their sufferings under the years of APC rule over the course of close of four years at the federal level and three year in the state, a period which has so far resulted in mindless killings. Hunger. Poverty, unemployment, unaffordable cost of living, hypocrisy-driven corruption, financial nepotism and the likes,” he exclaimed.

Bemgba explained that apart from failed political party led by lecherous alcoholic and parading dubious and unpopular candidates who are known for engaging publicity in fisticuffs would resort to inciting youths to cause public disorder at the visit of a governor.

He concluded that if APC have what it takes to win a free and fair electoral contest against PDP in Benue State, they would have no need to incite the youths to commit crimes, neither would they have to resort to false allegation against Governor Ortom.
