Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, was on Monday evening was reportedly attacked by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, who burnt down several houses, shops and places of worship across three villages.
Residents of the areas said about 90 residential houses, as well as a church, clinic, nine shops, and other properties worth millions of naira were destroyed during the attack.
Briefing the Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, who paid a sympathy visit to the affected communities, the District Head of the area, Alhaji Mohammad Maina Bukar, said they had lost their sources of livelihoods to the attack.

The communities narrated how local hunters repelled the attackers and succeeded in killing three members of them, while one resident sustained a bullet wound.
“The insurgents stormed the villages at about 6:30 pm to 10:25 pm simultaneously; they burnt down 90 residential Houses, 9 shops, 1 church, 1 dispensary/Clinic, 1 tractor and carted away essential commodities, as well as food items,” the district head said.
The deputy governor sympathised with the people and urged them to see the incident as an act of Allah, adding that they should continue to pray for lasting peace.
He also promised to equip the vigilante group give them monthly stipends to enable them to operate alongside the security operatives in defending their communities.
