Bayelsa PDP Assembly Primaries: One killed in ex-President Jonathan’s clan

It was a bloody PDP State Assembly Primaries in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s clan as one person was killed following a gun battle between supporters of some Candidates.

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State also condemned the incident which occurred  Sunday evening during the state House  of Assembly Ogbia Constituency 1(one ) elections in Ogbia town, headquarters of ex-president Jonathan’s clan.

The diseased victim, Michael Isaiah, was shot dead after a.sporadic shooting from some suspected supporters of another Candidate took place.

It was learnt that argument ensued following the determination of a delegates list for the election between Jonathan Azibalamawal, a brother to former President Jonathan and one Hon. Richard Ibegu.

In the cause of the argument, supporters of a particular candidate tried to overwhelmed the other by shooting sporadically.

Efforts to reach the two aspirants for comments was yet possible as at the time of this report.

However, while condemning the killing, Governor Diri, in a statement, described the incident as ‘orchestrated attempt’ by certain desperate persons to undermine the generally peaceful conduct of the primaries across the State.

The statement signed by Kola Oredipe, Director, New Media to Governor Diri, called on the security agencies to investigate what he described as the cowardly killing and ensure perpetrators are arrested and be made to face the full weight of the law.

He noted that the PDP remained a peaceful party and would not condone such dastardly acts in the name of politics.

While sending his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the governor assured of justice in the matter, saying, “Justice would be served in this case.”

However,  peaceful Primary elections took place in other constituencies as both new and old Assembly members emerged as winners inclining  a former Deputy Chief of Staff during the administration of Chief Seriake Dickson, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu Brown, was declared winner of the Sagbama Constituency 3 Primaries and Hon. Pamoh Werinipre​ emerged Winner of the Kolokuma-Opokuma Constitutuency 1 in the State House of Assembly Primaries.

An incumbent, Hon. Gibson Munalayefa, won the Ogbia Constituency 2 PDP Assembly Primaries, while Chief Macdonald Igbadiwei won the Southern Ijaw Constituency 4 PDP Assembly Primaries.

Hon. Ted Elemeforo was declared Winner of the just concluded PDP primaries in Yenagoa Constituency 3, with 8 votes to 4​ votes of his opponent Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha.

In Ekeremor constituency 1,Hon (Barr.) Tare Porri was returned unopposed after his co-aspirant withdrew voluntarily from the race.Hon Moses Marlon​ emerged winner of the Southern Ijaw Constitutuency 3 in the State House of Assembly Primaries.

Also Hon. (Mrs.) Ebiuwou Obiyai, an incumbent emerged Winner of the Yenagoa Constitutuency 2 in the State House of Assembly Primaries. Hon. Hon Felix Bonny Aya also emerged Winner as Souther Ijaw Constituency 1 flag bearer.

Hon. Chief Ayibanegiyefa Egba​ returned unopposed in PDP Yenagoa Constituency 1 and Hon. Gabriel Michael Ogbara​ emerges Winner as Ogbia Constituency 3 Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

A one-time speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Monday Obolo Bubou​ also won the PDP ticket for the Southern Ijaw Constituency-2 seat. Obolo scored all 6 ad-hoc Delegates votes. Hon. Bernard Kenebai emerges Winner of the Sagbama Constituency 2 in the State House of Assembly Primaries.
