Six aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Bayelsa State governorship elections, holding in November this year, have been screened by the Party, in Abuja.
The aspirants who picked nomination forms for the governorship race in the APC for the November 11 elections in Bayelsa State included Prof. Ongoebi Etebu Maureen, Chief Joshua Machaiva, David Lyon, Barr. Festus Daumiebi, Mrs. Ogbomade Isikima Johnson and Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva.

However, impeccable sources disposed that Chief Lyon, former governor-elect of the state under the banner of the APC in the 2019 Governorship elections in the state might defect to the Labour Party (LP) or the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) if he did not secure the Party’s ticket for the November governorship elections.
According to the sources close the oil and gas magnate, if he is not given the right of first refusal by the ruling party he and his teaming supporters may be forced to defect to the LP or APGA.
The sources also disclosed that Lyon was in talks with officials of the LP and APGA in case he failed to get the nod of Party to fly its flag in November.

Efforts to hear from Chief Lyon on his reported moves to dump the APC met a brick wall as contacts on his mobile phone was busied.
However, text message sent to him was yet to be responded to as at the time of this report.
Recall that Chief Lyon contested the 2019 governorship elections and won but was thrown out by the Supreme Court as a result of variant of names in the certificates of his deputy, Chief Degi Eremieyo, who is a current senator at the Red Chamber.
