Some Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been by the men of the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army from an apartment in the Olodi-Apapa neighborhood of Lagos State.
In addition to the PVCs, security personnel discovered ballot papers, cutlasses, and Indian hemp in the apartment and arrested three individuals, while the primary suspect remained at large.
Brig.-Gen. Isang Akpaumontia, who paraded the suspects and recovered items in front of journalists at the Ikeja Cantonment, disclosed that the arrest and recovery were the result of a tip.

He observed that the majority of the PVCs had the year 2022 as the Registration number, while others had 2011, 2012, and 2021, and that all of the owners were Lagos State residents.
Gen. Akpaumontia explained that the suspects were apprehended in the general area of Apapa with drugs, daggers, charms, and over 1,000 PVCs.
The owner of the residence, who is the prime suspect, was tracked to a hotel, but he managed to escape.
He added that the suspects and evidence would be turned over to the proper authorities to ensure justice and deter others from engaging in similar activities. As PVCs are required for eligible voters to participate in elections, their recovery has raised concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process.
The incident has prompted calls for increased security and vigilance to safeguard the electoral process.
