The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter has observed that the hope of the people is usually rekindled when progressives hold sway in the State.
Chairman of the State chapter, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, made the observation in Akure, when he received in audience leaders of National Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), who paid courtesy visit to the State secretariat.
Adetimehin said available indices showed that the State benefits, particularly in infrastructural and industrial developments whenever the progressives are in the saddle.
The party boss declared, “Ondo State is the home of progressives; and we usually experience peace and rapid development when the progressives are in power.
“This much has been confirmed by the level of the infrastructures built by the current administration within a short time. The industrial hub in Ore can only be dreamt of by the non-progressives “
He emphasised that the current APC-led government is committed to the welfare of the people. “We will not let down the people that freely gave us the mandate to serve them”, he added.
The chairman challenged the women journalists to sensitise, and encourage women to drop their cold attitude to politics, and participate in their numbers in future elections.
The party, he reminded, has policies that support women participation in the electoral process, urging the womenfolk to take advantage of this to increase their numbers and stakes.
“You must assist in the enlightenment of the women to develop interest in politics; we are ever ready to give them space” he appealed.
Adetimehin further promised that the party would support the group in its advocacy to bring succor to the people.
Earlier, the chairperson of NAWOJ in Ondo State, Mrs. Doris Olumoko, appealed to the party to concede the running mate slot to a female member of the party in 2020 governorship election.
She hinted that the group is non-partisan, with deep interest in advocacy, besides promotion of women and children welfare.
The group also urged the party to create more space for the women in politic. “We still need more appointments for women in Ondo State. We won’t sit idle during the forthcoming governorship election; we would participate and make our contributions felt”, she added.
The statement that contained the information was signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, MrAlex Kalejaye and made available
