APC govs on collision course with Buhari, reject Consensus Primaries

Ahead of Wednesday’s extraordinary emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) governors met President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, insisting that there must be an indirect primaries to select the presidential candidate for the party.

With their insistence on indirect primaries, the governors are, therefore, vehemently opposed to the consensus arrangement proposed by President Buhari, and might be heading for a showdown with him.

A source at the meeting said the governors told President Buhari that one of them must be selected as the presidential candidate of the party.

A letter sighted by the National Secretary of party, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, indicated that the meeting would hold today by 10.00am at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, in Abuja.

EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC)

An extraordinary emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be held tomorrow Wednesday, 20th April, 2022 at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

All members of NEC are expected to be seated by 9:00am. prompt.
