Out going Lagos State governor, Akinwumi Ambode has taken to the gym to keep fit in a bid to give a good account of himself during the testimonial game being put together for him by Nigerian ex internationals.
A competent source disclosed to The Nigerian Xpress Sports that the soccer loving governor wants to dazzle on the field of play when he laces boots against the likes of Didier Drogba, Kanu Nwankwo and Jay Jay Okocha at the Agege Soccer Temple on May 18.
“As we speak the governor wants to show his soccer skills and he has even taken to the gym to keep fit ahead of the game,” our source said.
Ambode has vowed to make former Super Eagles keeper Peter Rufai look ordinary between the sticks when he faces him in a penalty kick contest.

Rufai had recently challenged the governor to the penalty show during the testimonial game.
Meanwhile, Waidi Akanni who is coordinating the game said yesterday that 18 African legends have confirmed their coming to Lagos for the event.
“We have confirmed the coming of 18 African legends to be led by Didier Drogba. Their tickets have been sent to them. Everything is set for the big event,” Akanni said.
The Ambode testimonial game would see African legends take on their Nigerian counterparts in a novelty game. The Nigerian ex internationals are putting the event together as a way of saying “thank you” to a governor who showed them love and supported football.
