Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mr Waheed Ayilara is dead.
He died early this morning, August, 29, 2024 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
Ayilara reportedly died after a prostate surgery complications at LASUTH. The surgery was carried out yesterday, Wednesday, 28 August, 2024.
Ayilara was reportedly hale and hearty on Monday, 26 August, 2024, during the pull out ceremony for Assistant Inspector General of Police, Yetunde Longe.
He was said to have walked into the hospital for the surgery, but did not make it.
The late CP will be buried today, Thursday, 29 August, 2024 in accordance with Islamic rites.
A devoted Muslim, Ayilara acted as the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State before he was posted to Akwa Ibom in substantive capacity.
The Nigerian Xpress witnessed unusual visits of high ranking Police officers to the hospital today, apparently to confirm the news of the CP’s death.
Ayilara was said to be a hard working Police officer who served the Force with passion and commitment.
