Ahead AFCON draw: Onazi sure of Eagles

Tips Dream Team to beat Sudan

By George Aluo

Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, is confident Nigeria will do well this summer at AFCON 2019 in Egypt. He declared that there’s nothing to worry about, as the draw of the tournament holds this Friday in Cairo.

Onazi, who is gradually bouncing back from injury, told The Nigerian Xpress Sports that he was looking forward to a favourable draw, insisting that Eagles would only respect but not fear any opposition.

“In as much as we respect all the countries that will be in Egypt, we are not scared of any team. We just respect every country and wait to meet on the pitch…We are Super Eagles. I m looking forward to the draw and hope it is favourable,” Onazi said.

The Turkey-based player said he was celebrating the fine run the Eagles and the Dream Team had over five days in Asaba a fortnight ago.

“I followed the games. My colleagues did well against Seychelles and Egypt. I was very happy with the results and the five-star performance of the Dream Team. I’m sure the U 23 lads would beat Sudan in their next game and qualify for the U 23 Nations Cup.”

Onazi, while thanking his fans for their prayers and support, said he was gradually getting over the injury challenge, having started gym work.

“I’m back to the gym; it’s a gradual process but to the glory of God, I’m making a lot of progress,” he said
