Again Army restates commitment to tackle insecurity,banditry in Nigeria – GOC 82 Division

The General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigeria Army Enugu  (GOC)  Maj Gen Lasisi Adegboye, has restated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to tackle insecurity and other acts of banditry confronting the nation.
Gen. Adegboye gave the assurance on Wednesday at the Executive Council Chambers Government House  Abakaliki Ebonyi State  when he led a delegation of Senior officers of the Division on a courtesy visit to Governor David Umahi .
He said that the visit was part of activities geared towards familiarising himself with the working and operations of troops serving under his command in the state.

“My mission in the State was to familiarise myself with officers of the Army deployed at the Nkwegu Military Cantonment Abakaliki under my Division”

The GOC reiterated that the Nigerian Army would continue to discharge their constitutional responsibilities of safeguarding the security and external Defence of the country.
‘It is our duty to continue doing what we are doing to enable the citizens sleep with their two eyes closed at all times”
Earlier in his remarks, Governor David Umahi commended the Nigerian Army for their avowed commitment in maintaining the security of lives and property of the citizenry.
Umahi identified security challenges confronting the State to the frequent boundary conflicts between Ebonyi State and  neighbouring Cross River State, and commended the Joint Youth Committee of the two states for their laudable initiative in tackling the crisis.
The Governor stressed the need for synergy between the Army. Police and Department of Security Services (SSS) in order to defeat the menace of banditry and other heinous crimes in the country. 
” We should support State Police even though we are not ripe for it. We should support community policing introduced by the Inspector General of Police Abdulahi Adamu.
Umahi described Ebonyi Stste as one of the safest states in the country insisting that the state was the first to start Internal Security Outfit “Neighbourhood Watch”.
