Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has assured that Nigerians would be in for another round of celebration next summer, just as they did at the just concluded Ghana 2018 Women Nations Cup, when the Eagles do battle at the 2019 Nations Cup.

Onazi while congratulating the Falcons for doing the country proud in Ghana said the Eagles would emulate the ladies and make it a double for Nigeria at the AFCON 2019 Nations Cup.

“I supported the Falcons all through the competition and prayed for their victory. I’m happy God crowned their efforts with success. The Falcons victory would motivate us to do the same next year at the male version of the tournament,” Ogenyi said.

The Turkey-based player said the Eagles would continue to get better with every game, even as he stated that qualifying for AFCON 2019 with a game in hand shows that the Gernot Rohr tutored side has quality.

The Eagles would in March next year host Seychelles in what would be a formality game having already sealed qualification for the tournament, which has been moved out of Cameroon by CAF.

Meanwhile, CAF says she would announce the new host of next year’s African Cup of Nations on January 9 in Dakar, Senegal.

CAF who last month stripped Cameroon of the hosting right further confirmed that the duo of South Africa and Egypt have submitted bids.

CAF on her official website stated:

“Formal applications have been received from the Egyptian and South African football associations to host the AFCON 2019. The international consulting firm Roland Berger will now review the bids and seek additional materials and conduct inspection visits where required. A CAF Extraordinary Executive Committee meeting will take place in Dakar, Senegal on 9th January 2019 to agree on the new AFCON 2019 Host Nation. An announcement will be made by CAF after that meeting.”

CAF it would be noted stripped Cameroon of the hosting right over fear of insecurity and the slow pace of work in the stadiums being constructed for the soccer showpiece.
