Adamawa gov. meets new CAN officials, urges them to promote Interfaith harmony

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged the newly-inaugurated executive of the state Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to encourage interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence among divers people of the state.

 

 

 

 

 

The governor called on the CAN Executives to put the interest of the state first in their assignment by carrying everybody along irrespective of faith and encouraged unity, tolerance and harmony saying that leadership is about the people and their wellbeing.

 

 

 

 

 

Governor Fintiri gave the admonition when he granted audience to the State CAN Executives in the Government House Yola, on Wednesday.

The governor lamented that the State has bled enough in the past due to insensitive leadership, a setback that drew Adamawa backwards.

 

 

 

 

 

He expressed optimism working together with the new CAN Executives, emphasizing that with their support government will leverage on the successes recorded in changing the narrative going forward.

 

 

 

 

 

According to the Governor his administration is conscious of the state diversity and took that into consideration in its appointments, making sure that the right people are assigned roles not base on sentiment or religious affiliation.

 

 

 

 

 

“That is why I have vowed to utilize every space, every hour, every seconds up to the last day of my administration to the benefit of the people of Adamawa and by extension Nigeria because whatever we are doing here resonate across the country”.

He expressed confidence in the new CAN chairman and assured him all necessary support he needed to succeed in the course of discharging his responsibility as the leader of the Christian body in the state.

 

 

 

 

 

He further assured the CAN leadership that his doors are always open for consultation and collaboration that will move the state forward.

 

 

 

 

 

The state’s CAN Chairman, Rev’d Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo, said that the purpose of their visit was to introduce the new CAN Executives and identify with the Governor for his tireless efforts in changing the narrative in the state polity.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Manzo, identified with the leadership prowess of the Governor that has translated into productivity and development across various sectors that the State has ever enjoyed.

 

 

 

 

 

The CAN Chairman affirmed the readiness of the CAN EXCO to promote religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and interdenominational collaboration towards developmental projects.

 

 

 

 

 

“Our strength lies in our unity because together, we can overcome challenges and work towards a society that reflects the values of love, integrity, peace and justice”.

 

 

 

 

 

He commended the Governor’s efforts especially, with the creation of enabling environment for freedom of worship and expression of faith and peaceful transaction of business within and around the state.
